Clifford Chance, Freshfields and Linklaters appoint new Middle East counsel

Fourteen appointments have been made across the UK-headquartered Magic Circle law firms' offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.

Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and Linklaters have appointed new counsel in the Middle East.

Fourteen new appointments have been made across the UK-headquartered Magic Circle law firms’ offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.

Clifford Chance has made seven counsel promotions in Riyadh, while Freshfields has made two across its Dubai office and one in Riyadh. Linklaters, meanwhile, has made four promotions across its UAE offices, including three new counsel in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi.

Clifford Chance’s new counsel work across the firm’s banking & finance, corporate, and public policy practices, the firm which operates through a joint venture with Abuhimed Alsheikh Alhagbani Law Firm (AS&H) in Saudi Arabia, announced in a post on LinkedIn. They are:

• Sultan AlFayez, corporate and equity capital markets

• Khaled Alkahtani, regulatory & public policy

• Abdullah Alobaid, regulatory & public policy

• Abdullah Alsugair, banking & finance

• Ali Moiz Ansari, banking & finance

• Aysh-Ahmed Chaudhry, corporate and equity capital markets

• Rakan Kawar, corporate and equity capital markets

Commenting on the new counsel appointments, AS&H Clifford Chance managing partner, Fahad Abuhimed, said: “These individuals have shown exceptional contributions, skills, dedication and outstanding client delivery within their respective practices. Earlier this week Clifford Chance added two finance lawyers to its Middle East partnership, in Dubai and Riyadh.

Freshfields, meanwhile, appointed three new counsel in the Middle East, as part of a wider promotion round of 40 across its global offices.

These include Tabasam Faqir and Amr Omran in Dubai, and Ibrahim Attar in Riyadh. Faqir and Attar specialise in global transactions, with Faqir leading the firm’s restructuring and capital solutions practice in the Middle East and North Africa. Omran specialises in dispute resolution.

In Dubai, Linklaters’ new counsel include Leila Amos, Claire Neil, and Sergey Shiposha, who specialise in energy & infrastructure, corporate, and capital markets, respectively. Elsewhere, corporate specialist Faysal Lassas has been promoted to counsel in Abu Dhabi.
