UAE law firms expand to Saudi Arabia

MAS Advocates and Uppercase Legal Advisory have expanded their reach and capabilities to the Kingdom.

UAE law firms MAS Advocates and Uppercase Legal Advisory have expanded their reach and capabilities to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

MAS Advocates, a full-service law firm based out of the UAE with offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, has joined forces with AlAmmar Law in Saudi Arabia.

Both firms will operate under a new brand, MAS Law, with more than 25 lawyers and legal professionals, including seven partners.

MAS Advocates was founded in 2018 by local Emirati litigator Mohammed Alserkal, who previously served with the Dubai Police Criminal Investigation Department for over a decade, as well as Baker McKenzie, Flydubai and Etihad Airways. The firm is regarded for its commercial dispute resolution and criminal, financial and white collar crime work, along with its finance and insolvency practice.

AlAmmar Law was established in Riyadh in 2006 by partners Mohammed and Bader AlAmmar, with a focus on corporate and commercial transactions. Partner Anmar Algahrifi joined the firm in February 2023 after nearly a decade at Eversheds Sutherland to lead the corporate and commercial practice.

Announcing the tie-up on LinkedIn, the newly-combined firm said in a statement: “This step brings together the complementary strengths, experiences, and resources of both firms and helps to serve their clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It will further create a regional legal platform with an unmatched group of partners, who are all equipped with many years of experience with prominent international law firms.”

Elsewhere, Uppercase Legal Advisory is to launch in Riyadh in the second quarter of 2024, as part of its expansion strategy in the Middle East and North Africa.

Commenting on the expansion, Alexander Kukuev, managing partner at Uppercase Legal Advisory, said: “There is a growing demand from our clients who are interested in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They aim to become part of the largest economy in the Middle East but are cautious about potential entry mistakes. A reliable strategic and legal partner can help mitigate risks. Uppercase aims to attract multi-industry multi-tier international businesses to Saudi Arabia.”

The firm’s head of contract, Elmira Larina, will spearhead its Saudi operations.

Uppercase launched in Dubai in December 2023 and specialises in compliance with anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and Financial Action Task Force rules, mergers and acquisitions, and trade laws.
