CMS has appointed a new partner as head of corporate in Saudi Arabia, a new position at the firm as it continues to grow its presence in the Kingdom.

Rizwan Osman joins the firm’s Riyadh office from Clyde & Co, where he spent over 17 years most recently as a partner, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He specialises in corporate, commercial, and competition law, with experience across a range of industries, including advertising & media, education, healthcare, oil & gas, mining, trade, transport and logistics.

Commenting on the new hire, CMS partner and joint managing director for the Middle East and Asia, Adrian Bell, said: “Deepening our offering in Saudi Arabia is an integral part of our Middle East strategy and Rizwan brings significant experience in corporate transactions and structuring.”

Osman, who has been based in Riyadh since 2015, added: “With its strong sector focus, particularly in key areas such as energy and infrastructure, real estate, life sciences and financial services, CMS is well placed to serve the needs of clients in the region and take on new opportunities aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative.”

CMS opened its Riyadh office in October 2023 following the approval of its Foreign Law Firm Licence by the Ministry of Justice, and appointed disputes partner Mohammed Aldowish as the managing partner.

Osman’s appointment follows the arrival of energy & infrastructure partner Keith Bullen in May and disputes partner James Abbott in January.
