Clyde & Co has added a partner from Pinsent Masons, and lost another to Greenberg Traurig in Dubai.
Tom Bicknell re-joins the firm after seven years, becoming part of Clyde & Co’s global financial services regulatory practice.
He previously led the financial services practice at Pinsent Masons in the Middle East.
His practice focuses on non-contentious financial services work, with particular experience in managing regulatory mandates for regional and international banks, insurers, intermediaries, and fund managers. His experience also spans the fintech sector in the Middle East, advising clients involved in the region’s transition to a digital economy.
Peter Hodgins, partner and global head of corporate insurance at Clyde & Co, commented: “His deep industry knowledge and strong understanding of the Middle East market will be instrumental in helping our financial services clients navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and manage the growing legal and reputational risks for organisations across the region.”
Clyde & Co’s Middle East arbitration head, meanwhile, has departed for Greenberg Traurig in Dubai.
Nassif BouMalhab joins the firm’s international arbitration and litigation practice as a shareholder.
His arrival follows the addition of three shareholders in the international arbitration practice in London; Jason Hambury, Gurmukh Riyat, and Clea Bigelow-Nuttall joined the firm last month from Pinsent Masons.
BouMalhab represents parties in corporate and commercial disputes before the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts, the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Courts, and international arbitration tribunals. He also advises on disputes before the UAE onshore courts.
“We welcome Nassif, whose deep experience in complex disputes in sectors including education, property development, and hospitality is integral to our ambitious plans to develop our international arbitration & litigation practice in key regions globally,” commented the firm’s executive chairman, Richard A. Rosenbaum. “We are highly committed to being a major force in disputes worldwide, involving both litigation and arbitration and in civil and criminal forums.”
Clyde & Co is the largest international law firm in the Middle East, with six offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, and Cairo. In July, it recorded a 12% increase in revenue across its Middle East offices.
