Latham & Watkins has promoted Riyadh associate Najla Al-Gadi to partner as part of the firm’s latest promotions round. The appointment is effective January 1, 2025.

Najla Al-Gadi specialises in capital markets, advising issuers and investment banks on initial public offerings (IPOs), secondary equity offerings, and other securities offerings in various industries. She also advises issuers, boards of directors, and capital markets institutions on corporate governance, public M&A, and securities law matters.

“We congratulate Najla on her well-deserved promotion,” said the firm’s regional managing partner, Salman Al-Sudairi, in a statement. “She is a highly talented lawyer, widely recognised as a leading capital markets practitioner. Najla exemplifies Latham’s culture of exceptional client service, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit. We are excited to welcome her to the partnership and look forward to her continued success.”

Al-Gadi is one of 24 new partners across the global firm’s offices. As in previous years most of the promotions went to associates based in the Los Angeles firm’s US offices.

At the same time, Latham announced 27 associates have been promoted to the role of counsel.

“This is truly one of my favorite times of the year,” said Nathan Ajiashvili, chair of the firm’s associates committee, in a statement. “We all look forward to this milestone when we recognise our new partners and counsel and acknowledge their accomplishments.”

Al-Gadi’s promotion is the third the firm has made in Riyadh this year. In March, the firm promoted project development & finance counsel Marc Makary and Derek McKinley to the partnership as part of its annual counsel to partner promotions round.

In August, Latham strengthened its M&A and private equity practice in Riyadh with the hire of Leen Zaza from Khoshaim & Associates (K&A), where she worked for over a decade.

A number of international firms have recently added women to their Riyadh partnerships, including Clyde & Co, who last week announced the promotion of Shahd Makhafah to the partnership, making her the firm’s first female partner in Saudi Arabia. Baker McKenzie, meanwhile, appointed Hessa AlAiban to the partnership in July.
