CMS strengthens Dubai tax practice with partner relocation

In addition to his relocation, Andre Anthony has been promoted to partner.

CMS has strengthened its Middle East tax desk with the relocation of a key member to Dubai.

Andre Anthony joins from the international firm’s London office. In addition to his relocation, he has been promoted to partner.

A chartered accountant and solicitor, he advises corporate and individual clients on a broad range of domestic and cross-border tax issues. He has experience in cross-border asset finance transactions, especially in relation to floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, liquified natural gas (LNG) carriers and aircraft.

“Having successfully led the Middle East tax desk for several years, his relocation to the region aligns strategically with our ambition to enhance our on-the-ground capabilities,” said Adrian Bell, CMS partner and joint managing director for the Middle East and Asia, in a statement. “Andre’s expertise in handling a diverse range of corporate and private complex tax matters, coupled with his keen interest in the taxation of crypto assets, will further strengthen our capabilities. As the region continues to actively develop its regulatory framework for virtual assets, his knowledge will be invaluable to our offering.”

“The UAE’s developing tax landscape is particularly fascinating and presents numerous opportunities for innovation and growth,” said Anthony. “I am eager to leverage my tax expertise in supporting our clients, to play a pivotal role in shaping our strategies and to drive our growth in the Middle East.”

CMS is continuing its strategic expansion in the Middle East with several key appointments over the past year. Notable additions to the team include Robin Balmer (finance, Dubai), Ken Wong (TMT, Riyadh), Rizwan Osman (corporate, Riyadh), Keith Bullen (energy & infrastructure, Dubai/Riyadh), James Abbott (disputes, Dubai), and Mohammed Aldowish (disputes, Riyadh).

Meanwhile, M&A partner Graham Conlon relocated to the Abu Dhabi office in May, and projects partner Eleanor Lane moved to the Dubai office last month.
