Eversheds appoints two lawyers to partner in UAE

The partners specialise in corporate and construction litigation.

Eversheds Sutherland International today announced the appointment of two new partners in Abu Dhabi and Dubai as part of its latest promotions round.

In Abu Dhabi, Roberta Wertman has been promoted to partner in the construction litigation practice, and in Dubai, Steve Jennings has been promoted to partner in the corporate practice.

The promotions take effect from May 1, 2025.

They are part of a wider promotion round of 23 new partners across the global firm’s offices. More than half (52%) of the new partners are female.

The new partners are based across seven of the firm’s UK offices, three in Europe, two in the Middle East, and one in Asia.

In terms of practice areas, seven partners were promoted in the firm’s litigation & dispute management practice, six partners in corporate finance, and four partners in the firm’s employment, labour, and pensions practice. Three partners were each promoted in the firm’s commercial advisory and real estate practices.

Eversheds Sutherland International’s outgoing chief executive officer, Lee Ranson, said: “Our 2025 newly promoted partners have exceptional legal talent and an unwavering commitment to developing deep and trusted relationships with our clients. I have no doubt that together these new partners have the drive, vision and energy to help shape a successful future for our global firm. During the last eight years as CEO, I have had the pleasure of announcing over 200 promotions to partner and I extend my congratulations to each of our newest cohort.”

Earlier this year it was reported that Ranson will be taking up a new role in Dubai following the completion of his second management term at the end of April. Ranson, who become the firm’s co-CEO in 2017 and was re-elected to the position in 2021, will continue as a partner at the firm with the aim of developing its seven offices across the region.

In December 2024, the US arm of the transatlantic firm announced the promotion of ten attorneys to partner, which took effect on January 1, 2025.
