A&O Shearman promotes two lawyers to partner in Dubai

Mike Campbell and Richard Chamberlain specialise in energy, natural resources and infrastructure.

A&O Shearman has announced its first partner promotions since its merger completed, and they include two in the Middle East.

Mike Campbell and Richard Chamberlain have been promoted to partner in the energy, natural resources and infrastructure practice, based in Dubai.

Campbell specialises in projects, energy, and infrastructure, with experience in project and infrastructure financings and refinancings across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Chamberlain is a project development and construction lawyer, with a focus on energy, digital infrastructure, and traditional infrastructure. He also has experience advising on public-private partnerships (PPPs) and project financings.

They are part of 33 lawyers promoted to the firm’s partnership, effective May 1, 2025.

The new partners are based across 11 of the firm’s practice areas in 16 different offices throughout 11 countries.

In addition to the promotions in the Middle East, there were 14 promotions across Continental Europe, nine in the UK, four in the US, and four in Asia Pacific.

M&A saw the largest intake of new partners with ten promotions, followed by ENRI with five. Debt finance, litigation and investigations, and real estate had three promotions each. Funds and asset management, global financial markets, and tax had two promotions each, while there was one each in the markets innovation group, restructuring, and asset finance.
