Al Tamimi & Company has added two new partners in the UAE, including the former managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland’s Dubai office.
Paul Taylor has joined the firm’s Dubai office as a partner and regional head of arbitration, while Henry Storrar has joined the Abu Dhabi office as a corporate partner.
Taylor brings over 19 years’ worth of experience in the UAE and wider Middle East, handling disputes and arbitrations in the infrastructure, energy, and construction sectors.
He was previously at Eversheds Sutherland, leading the international law firm’s Dubai office as managing partner since 2020.
Storrar, meanwhile, has over 12 years of international M&A experience, advising sovereign wealth funds, corporates, and funds on transactions across multiple sectors, namely oil & gas, renewable energy, and technology.
He has been in the region for over five years most recently as senior legal counsel at investment company Waha Capital, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that he worked as a senior associate at Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman) in Abu Dhabi.
He was previously based in London, practising as an associate at Morrison & Foerster and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
Al Tamimi & Company managing partner Jody Waugh welcomed the new partners, stating: “We are pleased to have Paul and Henry join the firm.”
“The two hires demonstrate the firm’s appetite to continue to bring on board market leading legal experience and expertise that will further bolster our capabilities and reinforce our commitment to delivering top-tier legal services to our clients across the region,” he said.
In March, Al Tamimi, the largest law firm in the Middle East, added former general counsel Ali El Hawary as a partner in its banking practice based in Abu Dhabi. The firm lost arbitration and disputes partner Sara K. Aranjo to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius last September.
Eversheds Sutherland did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
