Charles Russell Speechlys has strengthened its corporate, regulatory, and capital markets practices with the hire of Ahmad Anani in Doha, Qatar.
Anani joins the firm’s corporate team as head of capital markets and regulation for the Middle East, based out of the firm’s Doha office.
He was previously at PwC Legal, having joined in September 2022 as a partner and leader of legal business solutions.
Prior to his role at PwC, Anani was office managing partner for Addleshaw Goddard in Doha, and also managing partner for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha.
He has worked for Latham & Watkin’s Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha offices as deputy managing partner as well as Al Tamimi & Company in Doha. He has also worked in-house at Dubai Holding and Dubai Development and Investment Authority.

Charles Russell Speechlys Qatar office head Alim Khamis said in a statement: “This is a significant addition to our corporate offering in the Middle East.”
“The appointment reflects our maturity in the market and our direction of travel internationally,” said Khamis, who joined the firm in January 2023. “In just the past year alone, our firm saw total international revenue growth of 15%, and we have similar aims looking ahead to 2025. The Qatar office and other offices in the Middle East are proud to be a part of this growth story.”
Anani’s appointment comes some months after the firm relocated its Qatar office north of Doha to Lusail. At the time Khamis told Law Middle East the firm is targeting growth in terms of resourcing and recruitment in areas including corporate and construction.
“I am excited to be joining Charles Russell Speechlys in Doha,” said Anani. “The firm has a strong track record in transactional and capital markets work, both in the GCC region and in other jurisdictions such as London, and has an extremely exciting roster of clients.”
Earlier this year the firm appointed Nicola Jackson as a partner in Dubai. She joined the firm’s corporate restructuring and insolvency (CRI) practice from Clyde & Co.
