Charles Russell Speechlys has strengthened its corporate restructuring and insolvency (CRI) practice, with the appointment of a new partner in Dubai.

Nicola Jackson joins the firm from Clyde & Co, where she co-led the insolvency & restructuring disputes and contentious advisory practice in the Middle East.

Jackson brings over 15 years of experience to the role, having been based in the Middle East since 2009. She advises creditors, debtors, and insolvency practitioners on a range of insolvency-related disputes in the UAE and beyond, including companies and office holders in relation to both pre-formal insolvency process strategies and strategies for dealing with disputes within formal insolvency processes.

She specialises in commercial and financial disputes before the DIFC and ADGM courts, and has acted on several high profiles cases in this regard, namely Credit Suisse v Goel.

In addition, she has experience acting for both local and international clients on commercial disputes before arbitration tribunals across multiple jurisdictions and under various institutional rules.

Patrick Gearon, partner and head of Charles Russell Speechlys’ Middle East practice, said:

“Nicola’s addition to the Dubai team will further enhance our cross-border disputes credentials and allow for greater collaboration with our existing CRI teams in Dubai, Bahrain, Paris, and the UK.”

“Nicola also boosts our bench strength for DIFC/ADGM court matters, investigations and international arbitration work,” he added.

Last year the firm welcomed Thomas Snider as partner and head of its international arbitration practice in Dubai. Snider joined from Al Tamimi & Company.

Meanwhile in March of this year, partner John Lewis left the firm for Stephenson Harwood to co-head its general commercial litigation and international arbitration practice in the Middle East.
