Dentons hires former legal advisor to Saudi Justice chief as partner

Abdullah Alsulaimi has been involved in drafting several key legislations over the past decade.

Dentons has expanded its regulatory and litigation practice in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a strategic partner hire.

Abdullah Alsulaimi joins from the Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia, where he advised the Minister of Justice. He served as the Deputy Minister for Laws and International Cooperation.

Alsulaimi is also a member of the advisory board in the Office of the Minister of Justice and has also held significant judicial roles, including serving as a judge in various courts, including working in the bankruptcy department at the Commercial Court in Riyadh. He also previously served as Assistant Deputy Minister in the department of property registration.

In addition to his judicial and regulatory expertise, he has been involved in drafting several key legislations over the past decade. These include, but are not limited to, the Civil Transactions Law; the Evidence Law; the Enforcement Law; and the Regulation of Foreign Law Firms, which all form significant aspects to the legal reforms currently underway in Saudi Arabia.

“Over the past three years, we have recruited a string of senior hires into our Saudi corporate, finance, energy and real estate practices,” said UK, Ireland and Middle East CEO, Paul Jarvis, who was reappointed for a second term earlier this year. “Abdullah’s arrival marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to build a full-service capability in this important and dynamic market.”

“His extensive expertise and impressive credentials will significantly bolster our capabilities in Saudi Arabia, added Riyadh managing partner Ziad Saad. “Abdullah’s client-focused approach and his ability to deliver innovative legal solutions align perfectly with our strategic objectives, enhancing our service offerings in this key market.”

Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant period of transformation, attracting law firm investment at the same time as reforming its practice rules.
