The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) has entered a partnership with International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, India.

The arbitration centre, which is the largest in the Middle East, announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IAMC Hyderabad in a post on LinkedIn on Friday.

“This strategic collaboration merges our expertise and resources to promote effective dispute resolution mechanisms across borders,” the post said. “Together, we’re dedicated to support the arbitration landscape and nurture a culture of collaboration.”

The news comes in the same month DIAC signed an MoU with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The agreement aims to enhance the scope and effectiveness of arbitration as a preferred method of dispute resolution, while also establishing a framework for collaboration for both institutions.

Meanwhile, in September 2023, DIAC signed an MoU with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

In an interview with Law Middle East published on Thursday, DIAC’s executive director, Jehad Abdulrazzaq Kazim, spoke of further expansion with other jurisdictions, stating: “Our radar extends to regions with robust economic activity and a growing demand for arbitration services. Countries with thriving business eco-systems and a commitment to fostering a conducive environment for international trade are particularly attractive to us.”

Established in 1994, DIAC is the region’s largest arbitral institution, dedicated to the practice of arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution beyond traditional judicial mechanisms.

Last year the DIAC reformed its court and expanded its board of directors, and updated Arbitration Rules introduced in 2022.
