DLA Piper, Simmons unveil Dubai partner promotions

They have each added two partners to their ranks in Dubai.

Partnership promotions are continuing apace, with two more international law firms announcing new appointments in the UAE.

DLA Piper and Simmons & Simmons have each added two partners to their ranks in Dubai.

DLA has promoted Mona Hammadi and Rami Zayat to partner. Hammadi specialises in finance, projects & restructuring, with a particular focus on the Saudi Arabian energy and utilities sectors, whilst Zayat specialises in IP & technology. The appointments are effective on May 1, 2024.

The duo are part of a global promotion round of 63 new partners across the firm’s offices and practice areas. Litigation has the largest intake of new partners, with 16 promotions; followed by corporate with 13; 11 in finance, projects and restructuring; and ten in IP & technology. Other practice groups include employment and real estate with four promotions each, tax, regulatory & government with two promotions each, and pro bono, with one new promotion.

Simmons, meanwhile, has promoted David McDonald and Adam Wolstenholme to partner. McDonald is an employment law specialist and leads the firm’s Middle East employment practice, whilst Wolstenholme focuses on financial markets, with a particular emphasis on financial crime and financial services regulatory matters. The appointments are effective on May 1, 2024.

They are part of a wider promotion of 11 new partners across the firm’s offices. Simmons made the most promotions in financial markets with five new partners; followed by dispute resolution with four promotions. Employment and corporate/commercial each had one new promotion.

It was announced last week that Allen & Overy, Clyde & Co, Dentons, and Freshfields had each promoted a lawyer to their respective partnerships in the UAE.
