DWF adds disputes partner in Dubai

Michael Hartley is the firm's seventh partner hire since the beginning of 2023.

DWF has added a new dispute resolution partner in Dubai.

Michael Hartley is the firm’s seventh partner hire since the beginning of 2023.

He joins from Mantle Law, a regional dispute resolution firm, where he worked as a partner for two years. He has also worked for Stephenson Harwood and Herbert Smith Freehills in Dubai.

Hartley specialises in energy, infrastructure and construction disputes, with experience before courts and arbitration centres including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London, Singapore, and the International Chamber of Commerce.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to our team as we continue to enhance our practice and deepen our capabilities in the Middle East,” said James Fox, managing partner for DWF in Dubai. “Over the past two years, we have made significant strides in expanding our presence in Dubai, with seven new partner hires since the beginning of 2023. This is helping us to strengthen our relationships with existing clients and win new mandates.”

DWF opened its Dubai office in March 2015. The firm expanded to Saudi Arabia and established its regional headquarters in Riyadh in October 2021.

In January, the firm appointed Matthew Dyson as a partner in the finance & restructuring practice in Dubai.

Dyson’s hire followed the additions of Bhavesh Dattani (financial services regulation & compliance), Victoria Clucas, Bill Evans and Adam Pryor (insurance), and Paul Suckling and Oliver Dupenois (construction dispute resolution) who all joined DWF’s Dubai office in 2023.
