Egypt-headquartered Matouk Bassiouny has expanded its presence in the UAE through a merger with Balfaqeeh Advocates & Legal Consultants, a local firm headquartered in Abu Dhabi.

The combined firm will be known as Matouk Bassiouny & Balfaqeeh, according to a statement.

The merger unites the firms’ respective Abu Dhabi and Dubai teams and resources, leveraging the strengths of both legacy firms in areas including corporate, commercial, dispute resolution, employment, construction, intellectual property, technology, and more.

“This merger represents a significant milestone for both firms,” said F. John Matouk, founding partner of Matouk Bassiouny. “By joining forces with Balfaqeeh, we are significantly expanding our presence and expertise in the UAE, while also strengthening our regional footprint and deepening our client relationships. Notably, this merger solidifies Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s positions as premier legal hubs within the UAE and across the GCC.”

“We are thrilled to join forces with Matouk Bassiouny,” said Fatima Balfaqeeh, founding Partner of Balfaqeeh Advocates & Legal Consultants. “This merger will provide our clients with access to a wider range of legal services and a deeper bench of talent across the MENA region, particularly in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We are confident that this expansion will create significant value for our clients and drive continued success for both firms.”

Matouk Bassiouny has over 250 lawyers operating out of offices in Cairo, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Khartoum, and Algiers. The firm has a satellite office in New York focused on international dispute resolution, alongside two desks covering Libya and South Korea.
