Eversheds Sutherland has enhanced its capital markets team with the addition of a new partner.

Mohsin Abbasi joins the firm’s banking and finance team in Dubai. He was most recently a senior associate at Clifford Chance, according to his LinkedIn.

He has experience in debt capital markets and Islamic finance as well as advising financial institutions, corporate, sovereign, and public sector clients on local and international transactions on both the issuer and bank side.

Commenting on the new appointment, Eversheds Sutherland’s Middle East banking & finance head, Clint Dempsey, said: “We’re fully committed to growing and strengthening our financial services sector offering in the region, and this latest appointment further demonstrates this. Mohsin brings invaluable technical experience and knowledge in the capital markets space which will supplement our existing banking and finance practice to meet the increasing complex needs and objectives of our clients.”

Earlier this month Eversheds promoted four lawyers across its Middle East offices. Abdulrahman Alrashid and Zain Nuqul have been promoted to senior associate, while Adite Aloke and Muhammad Anum Saleem are now principal associates.

In October 2023, Walid Salib joined the firm as a partner and head of M&A from Freshfields in Riyadh.
