Greenberg Traurig adds ‘major strength’ in Dubai with four-lawyer Norton Rose team hire

Led by partners and newly-appointed practice heads Nicholas Kramer and Angela Croker, the team specialises in project finance and construction.

Greenberg Traurig has added “major strength” in Dubai with the hire of a four lawyer-team from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Led by partners and newly-appointed practice heads Nicholas Kramer and Angela Croker, the team specialises in project finance and construction, and includes of counsel Lindsay Crawford and Anastasia Kastelskaya.

They have joined the firm’s Dubai office, and will work with the team in Riyadh, according to a statement.

Croker has joined Greenberg Traurig as head of the UAE project finance practice. Her expertise is in banking, with a focus on financing of energy and infrastructure projects.

Kramer, meanwhile, has been appointed head of construction and projects for the Middle East.

“In the Middle East, Europe, America, and around the globe, further elevating our global infrastructure practice is among the most important needs for our clients and, therefore, our firm,” said Richard Rosenbaum, executive chair of Greenberg Traurig. “While this is most currently critical in the areas of energy and digital infrastructure, including data centres, the need goes beyond to many kinds of projects, especially in regions experiencing significant growth, such as the Middle East.”

“Along with the necessary corporate/funds, real estate, hospitality, finance, disputes, and other key practices which come into play, Nicholas, Angela, Anastasia, and Lindsay add major strength as long-time infrastructure experts in the region to our already solid core in the UAE, KSA, and elsewhere,” he said.

“Welcoming Nicholas, Angela, Anastasia, and Lindsay represents a landmark moment in our project and infrastructure finance capabilities growth story in the Middle East,” said Steven Bainbridge and Sarah Mahood, co-managing partners of Greenberg Traurig’s UAE office, in a joint statement. “As we continue to add more of the region’s most impressive lawyers to our team, we go from strength to strength.”

Greenberg Traurig launched in the Middle East in 2023 with offices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Since then, the firm has been growing steadily in the region, planting roots in the key industries and business sectors most active in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, the firm announced it had expanded its public policy and regulatory capabilities in Saudi Arabia with the addition of partner Abdullah Alzamil and of counsel Ammar Bin Maged in Riyadh.

The firm last month hired Elias Hayek and Louisa Lynch to jointly lead its Middle East and Europe hospitality practice. Hayek is based in the firm’s UAE and Saudi Arabia offices, dividing his time between Dubai, Riyadh, and London, while Lynch is based in the firm’s UAE office.
