Greenberg Traurig has strengthened its white collar defence and investigations practice with the hire of a lawyer from Al Tamimi & Company.
Benjamin Jones has joined the firm’s UAE and KSA offices as a local partner. He was most recently a senior associate at Al Tamimi, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He brings over 12 years of experience specialising in white collar crime, both internationally and regionally within the GCC. He advises on matters including fraud, anti-money laundering, bribery, corruption, sanctions, and extradition.
Jones previously worked at Al Tamimi in Dubai for over four years, as well as Dechert, Kirkland & Ellis, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, and Clifford Chance in London.
“With our white collar defence & investigations lawyers focused on client representation in enforcement, compliance and governance architecture, and internal investigations, Ben is an important addition to both our Middle East and international white collar team,” said Khalid Al-Thebity, Greenberg Traurig’s Middle East regional chair and managing shareholder of the KSA office.
“Ben’s deep experience in navigating the region’s regulatory framework derives from his having practised here for years as trusted legal counsel and being active in the market as it began to open and new regulations were created,” he said. “As a result, Ben has unique insight into these new rules and their application.”
Al Tamimi declined to comment on the departure.
Earlier this month the firm named partner Chadi Salloum as head of the UAE corporate practice. He joined the firm’s UAE and KSA offices from Clyde & Co.
Salloum was previously the managing partner of Akin Gump’s Abu Dhabi office, and has also worked at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Skadden Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
