Latham & Watkins has promoted two counsel to partner in the Middle East.
Omar Maayeh and Peter Norris have joined the firm’s partnership in Dubai and Riyadh, respectively.
Maayeh specialises in mergers & acquisitions (M&A), private equity, and corporate transactions in the Middle East and internationally.
Norris is a member of the banking practice and finance department, advising on a broad range of transactions, both in the GCC region and internationally.
“We congratulate Peter and Omar on their many accomplishments,” said Salman Al-Sudairi, managing partner of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at Latham & Watkins. “They are highly talented lawyers who demonstrate a deep commitment to client service and collaboration, and they will play an important role in the continued growth and success of our practice.”
The promotions are part of a wider round of 19 new counsel to partner appointments across the global firm’s offices. The appointments are effective on March 1, 2025.
The counsel promotions follow the previously-announced election of 24 associates to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2025. They included the promotion of Najla Al-Gadi to partner in Riyadh.
Al-Gadi’s promotion was the third the firm made in Riyadh last year. In March 2024, the firm promoted project development & finance counsel Marc Makary and Derek McKinley to the partnership as part of its annual counsel to partner promotions round.
