Reed Smith adds emerging technology practice

It brings together more than 200 lawyers across the firm's offices, including the Middle East.

Reed Smith has rolled out an emerging technologies practice across its global offices, including the Middle East.

The practice brings together more than 200 lawyers across the firm’s offices with experience in transactional, regulatory, and disputes matters, according to a statement from the firm.

Reed Smith has long been advising clients on technology, privacy, and data matters, and this addition brings together experienced lawyers under the emerging technologies umbrella.

The team will support clients as they bring new products and services to the market, providing services on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data privacy, among other areas.

Rob Newman, global chair of Reed Smith’s emerging technologies practice, told Law Middle East: “We have formed this new practice to ensure we can provide our clients with the very best support from our leading lawyers across our global platform, tapping into regional insight and varied industry experience.”

Continuing, Newman said:

“Our Emerging Technologies practice includes lawyers from our Middle East offices who are at the forefront of finding solutions for our clients, operating in the region, with complex technology and data-driven issues. Their expertise is already in high demand and we expect this to grow as new technology-related challenges present themselves.”

Reed Smith has two offices in the Middle East, both of which are in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The firm has developed tech-driven products such as Gravity Stack, which uses technology to provide solutions in litigation and contract review, for example.
